Alia Bhatt To Play A Kashmiri In Her Next Film Titled 'Raazi'

After her stellar performance of a Bihari migrant in 'Udta Punjab' and then an ambitious small town girl in 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania', Alia Bhatt is all set to play a Kashmiri in Meghna Gulzar’s next film titled 'Raazi'.

Alia Bhatt will be seen alongside Vicky Kaushal, the actor who rose to fame after 'Masaan'.

Vicky Kaushal tweeted-

Earlier Dharma Productions official twitter handle stated that 'Raazi' is going to be an espionage thriller set in the 1970s. The film will be jointly produced by Junglee Pictures and Dharma Productions.

'Raazi' is an adaptation of Harinder Sikka’s book titled 'Calling Sehmat'.

It is to be noted here that Megna Gulzar has earlier directed 'Talvar' which was commercially and
critically successful. The film will be shot in Kashmir and Punjab and is scheduled to go on floors this July.

'Raazi' will be a film set in the 1971 Indo-Pak War and Alia will be seen playing a Kashmiri girl who is married to a cop in Pakistan who secretly provides information to Indian intelligence. Cop role will be essayed by Vicky Kaushal.

According to leading online portal, Meghan Gulzar was quoted saying- “I am trying to do something in a new space, recreating India and Pakistan of the ’70s on sets and real locations. A lot of research has gone into getting the period and dialect right. There are some action pieces too. Its work in progress with workshops and reading sessions.”

Both the stars Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal are known for choosing different kinds of roles. Vicky has earlier starred in 'Masaan' and 'Raman Raghav 2.0'. It will be interesting to see this duo onscreen.
