Will Ranbir Kapoor And Katrina Kaif Starrer 'Jagga Jasoos' Be A Hit Or Flop? Let's Analyze

Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are in limelight for their upcoming film 'Jagga Jasoos' which is not too far from hitting the celluloid.

Will Jagga Jasoos be a hit or flop?

Directed and written by Anurag Basu and co-produced by him and Ranbir Kapoor, 'Jagga Jasoos' is one of the most awaited films of this year. The film has been under constant scrutiny for long and even before its release, it is shrouded in controversies. It has been closely watched by cinephiles, buffs, critics and media. But what for?

There are two most obvious answers- first the long delays of the film and second the relationship between Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. In fact, rumour has it that their break-up and the ensuing personal tiff became the most important reason for the film’s long day. Some say it was because Anurag Basu wanted to take a break and spend some time with family after his last film 'Barfi'.

There are others who say that Ranbir’s last film 'Bombay Velvet' is the reason for Jagga Jasoos’ dates being pushed further as Ranbir had to simultaneously shoot for both the films.

Whatever is the case, the film is finally coming out on July 14 (as we all hope). Its trailer, teaser and 2 songs- 'Galti Se Mistake' and 'Ullu Ka Pattha' have been released.

By the looks of the film hitherto, it can be safely said that the Indian audience are going to watch something that they have never seen before. The trailer says it all- how many times have we seen ostriches running? Ranbir’s look is unique as never before. Both Katrina and Ranbir are looking in different avatars- brand new looks.

But will the film run at the box-office? Obviously it’s tough to predict in India what might click with the audience. But when it comes to 'Jagga Jasoos', it would be fair to analyse both the sides of the coin. So let’s do it-

  • Anurag Basu’s last film Barfi had an amazing run at the box-office. Cinegores would bank upon the director a lot and flock to the theaters.
  • Both Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif have a huge fan following across the world.
  • At least by the looks of it, it seems that 'Jagga Jasoos' is a unique movie. For this reason alone many Bollywood buffs have already marked the date.
  • 'Jagga Jasoos' doesn’t have any competition at its time of release, so fair and square it shall have a smooth run.

  • First of all, the negative publicity and delays after delays might affect the box-office figures.
  • Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif were in a relationship. Now that they have broken up, nobody wants to see their onscreen chemistry alone. They want to see actors Ranbir and Katrina in reel life who are girlfriend-boyfriend in real life.
  • Anurag Basu’s statement that he delayed 'Jagga Jasoos' because he wanted a break is a blow to many fans. This is no reason for delaying a film.
  • The looks of the movie can be another reason for Jagga Jasoos’ tough run because Indian audience doesn’t like such kind of first-impression. By watching the trailer itself, people decide if they will go to the cinema or not. 'Jagga Jasoos' trailer seems brilliant and well crafted. But sadly, that’s not what pan-India audience likes.
  • Both Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif haven’t had quite a good run at the box-office. Before 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil', Ranbir was on a spree in box-office failures. Even Katrina’s 'Baar Baar Dekho', 'Fitoor', 'Phantom' were flops at ticket counters.

Clearly negatives weigh more than positives for 'Jagga Jasoos'. It can be said that it will run at the box-office but would not turn out to be a big money spinner. Let's wait till July 14 and hope that the long delays pay off well in the favour of Anurag Basu, Ranbitr Kapoor and Katrina Kaif.

  1. Please sir can u say prediction of jagga jasoos

  2. Hi Alok. First of all, thanks for the read and your genuine comment. We initially wanted to title this story as 'Prediction of Jagga Jasoos' itself. But then we genuinely thought of stamping the story under the direct question of whether the film will be a hit or flop considering that would generate more genuine interest to our readers than what would otherwise have aroused with the so-called 'prediction'. As for the people who really want to know the fate of 'Jagga Jasoos' beforehand, they would in any case read the piece barring the usage of 'hit or flop' or 'prediction'.
